April 17, 2007 on 1:58 pm | In News, Testimonials |I think the books are a brilliant idea and I cant wait to give them to my parents to unlock all their memories. Unfortunately, like you I’m too late for my grandparents but I wont let that happen with my parents, partner and myself! Linda
We all think that your books are a fantastic idea – much easier for relatives to answer questions and write things down in their own time. I was going to just order the ‘parent’ book for my husband and I to fill in, and put it with my family history research to hand down to our son, but then I thought it would be a good idea for his parents and my Dad to fill in books too. It really is a great product and with family history becoming increasingly popular, I’m sure you’ll do really well. Mandy The Memories Book has been delivered. Very prompt delivery. The book is fantastic. This is a gift not only will my husband love receiving from his two boys but will cherish filling in.Thank you for a lovely creation. Emma Just to let you know the books arrived this morning and they are beautiful! I can’t wait for the grandparents to fill them in so I can read them, let alone the fact they are for my little boy!!!Thank you again, not only for the beautiful books but also for the quick and very friendly service! Samantha
I purchased a Grandmothers memories book from you in early 2005 for my mother-in-law to fill in as a present for my daughter who was getting married.Unfortunately Grandma has now passed on, but I just wanted to let you know how invaluable the book was to her vicar in preparing the address at the funeral. Many members of the family commented that they now knew more about her than they did when she was alive. Thank you so much for the idea of producing the book in the first place. Loris The books are, as usual, lovely keepsakes and the extra cards are just what I needed. Extraordinary, your personal touch is beyond anything I’ve encountered. Thank you Julie, your generosity is a breath of fresh air in what may be considered our steadily declining society. Tricia
I heard about your books from my mother-in-law. She had been to an auntie’s funeral and they were reading parts of the book that she had already filled in at her funeral, which was very interesting as my mother-in-law then found out she was a quarter French through a relative! Great books and I cannot wait to give them as Christmas presents to my family. Anyshea
I ordered the Grandmother’s Memories book for my Grandma and she was really pleased with it (I am pestering her to hurry up and fill it in!). My father-in-law has lots of stories about the old days, so I imagine he will be just as pleased.
I was really impressed with the quality of the gift box and presentation. It is a brilliant idea. Many thanks, Katie
I think your books are brilliant because so often family members mention memories during a telephone conversation and it doesn’t matter how often you say ‘You really must write these down’ they don’t - unless you send them a Memories book! The last one is to send to my eldest sister in Australia as a hopefully returnable Christmas present! She’s 80 and so she has memories of the Grandparents I never knew. Aubrey
My mum has completed hers & gave it back to me this Christmas! I cant thank you enough for all the wonderful stories in there that probably would never have been told otherwise - I’ve got to do them for my children now! Cath
Our daughter gave us a copy of “Grandparents’ Memories” some time ago. My husband and I spent several months responding to the questions and included photographs, letters (one written when I was six years old), drawings and other treasures to illustrate the text. It is now a prize possession of our daughter who brings it out and shows it to the grandchildren as a treat. Our little granddaughter who is three and a half is now able to put names to some of the people in the old photographs. Not only have they learnt about their heritage, but as I was born in Africa and my husband brought up in England during the war, we have learnt things about each other’s childhood that we did not know previously. The whole project was such fun!We have recently returned from a holiday in South Africa and we took a “Grandparents’ Memories” book as a gift to our hosts. They are now busy researching and enjoying the exercise. Thank you for the idea. JeanYour advert stood out as an excellent gift for my wife’s Aunt. You have a truly unique gift. Paul
I just wanted to write and tell you how pleased I am with your Memory books. I purchased ‘Mother’s Memories’ for my Mum for Christmas 2005. On Christmas Day 2006, I was handed a package and I knew straight away what was in it!
I can honestly say it was one of my best gifts ever. I sat enthralled as I read and read. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t believe that in my mother’s memories there were things that I’d never known. It was like the questions had opened the floodgates for more memories to flow out. My brother and sister are green with envy that I hold such an amazing bit of family history, all written down in my Mum’s distinctive handwriting. It is particularly important to us as a family as our father died when we were quite young and with him a lot of memories. I would have dearly loved a ‘Father’s Memories’ book too.
I hope many other people discover the special magic that your Memory Books hold - mine is my most prized possession. Kim
